The World Congress on the Future of Work includes an option to attend one or two of four special half-day pre-conference workshops that provide Delegates with a unique opportuniy to gather together in smaller groups to learn real skills for making the future of work a reality for themselves, their businesses, and their communities.
With this goal in mind, we are offering three workshops on the morning of April 26, at the Sheraton Society Hill, the official hotel of the World Congress. These three sessions are geared toward the individual, the organization, and the community. Each will be presented by an experienced expert member of the Future of Work community.
Note: There is a $195 fee for attending each of these workshops ($150 for registered World Congress Delegates).
To register, please contact Charlie Grantham directly at charlie@thefutureofwork.net or +1 928.771.9138 to make payment arrangements.
In addition to those three workshops, World Congress sponsor Francis Cauffman Foley Hoffmann is also offering a complimentary walking tour of an innovative new facility recently completed for McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals. The tour will depart from the Sheraton Society Hill Hotel at 2 PM on the afternoon of April 26. Please contact Jim Ware directly at jim@thefutureofwork.net to register for the tour.
The Workshops
Individual Focus: Aikido, Leadership and Conflict Resolution
Each of us must develop new competencies to compete successfully in the future. Dr. Barry Tuchfeld offers a brief introduction to the personal use of Aikido techniques in our everyday work lives. Barry has been working at this for years; however, this workshop will be the first public unveiling of his ideas linking Eastern and Western traditions.
Organizational Focus: How to Build Social Networks Using New Communications Tools
Elizabeth Albrycht will help you explore how organizations can use new communications tools such as blogs and wikis to create social/audience networks. She'll discuss: What are all these new things people are using that go beyond email? How do they impact effectiveness at work? How can they be used to improve team dynamics with today's distributed workforce?
Community Focus: Becoming a Next Generation Company
Tony DiRomualdo brings us to the next level with discussion on the following topics: What are Next Generation Companies? Who will we be working for in five years or so? How does a Next Generation Company help people build a sense of community, both within the workplace and in the rest of their lives outside of work?
Each of these workshops will address important questions and impart valuable skills and tools for people interested in making the future of work real in their organizations.
The Walking Tour
From Vision to Action: Living Workshop Tour of Cultural Transformation
As part of a strategic business initiative for McNeil Consumer & Specialty Pharmaceuticals, Francis Cauffman Foley Hoffmann & DEGW created a new environment to facilitate the workplace re-organization and foster a culture of face-to-face communication and spontaneous interaction. John Campbell of FCFH will lead a tour of this new collaborative workplace, providing insight on the process from initiation to post-occupancy evaluation, and discussing the lessons learned.
